When the Sino-Korea FTA is about to come into effect, the forum is of special significance. The purpose of this forum is to promote the cooperation and development of Chinese and Korean robot industry, drive the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry of both countries, and achieve economic growth in both countries.

At the forum, the guest speakers and Korean media had interactive questions and answers. Currently, the top five countries with the greatest sales volume of industrial robots are China, Korea, Japan, the USA, and Germany, with Asia accounting for two thirds of global sales. According to the statistics of IFR, the global sales of industrial robots from 2003 to 2013 kept growing by 14%. In 2013, the global sales of robots set a record of 179,000 robots. In 2014, another record was set, amounting to 225,000 robots, a year-on-year growth of 27%.

Korean robot industry started late, but its development speed is a miracle in the history of the development of robot industry in Asia. Funded and guided by Korean government, it took ten years for Korea to establish its own industrial robot system. In 2003, Korea rated service robots as the key industry for the country to develop and in recent years, Korea has been among the top countries in the world in the robot industry.

Driven by the new tide of scientific and technical revolution and industrial revolution, developed countries have started the industrial layout with robotics as the key field. As irreplaceable important equipment and means in advanced manufacturing industry, industrial robots have become a new important symbol to measure the level of the manufacturing industry and science and technology of a country.

European “Industry 4.0”, the US “Framework to Revive American Manufacturing Industry”, China’s “Made in China 2025”, Japan’s “New Robotic Strategy”, and South Korea’s “Implementation Plan for Future Growth Impetus” and “Development Plan for Industrial Engine Project” have been put forward successively and they have one thing in common. That is, every country in the world is planning to use robots to revitalize their manufacturing industry. That is also a hot topic in the global robot industry.
